The way businesses are checked in the UK is changing. The Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act gives Companies House greater powers and introduces new requirements for company directors and owners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the key changes is identity verification. Company directors and People with Significant Control (PSCs) are required to verify their identity. Existing companies have a transition period running until November 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But this is only the beginning. From April 2028, companies will also be required to file annual accounts using commercial software. Filing requirements for small companies and micro-entities will change as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What does this mean for businesses? Companies House is moving beyond simply storing company information towards actively checking the accuracy of that information. Incorrect details, missed requirements or late filings could create compliance issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For this reason, UK company owners should already check that their director, PSC and company information is accurate and up to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
